Teresa - Viana do Castelo

Restaurante Teresa is in the heart of Lanheses. The owner cares for every little detail to ensure you experience is good and it doesn't take long to tell this is her passion. The service is tremendous. The food was very tasteful and the portions were very filling. This is real, home style Portuguese cooking and comfort food.

To be frank, I dislike goat. I can't stand the smell and the gaminess of the meat. I simply had given up on that meat! And then, I found Teresa Restaurante. The goat is tender, flavorful and there is absolutely NO goaty smell. Amen! I don't know how she does it or what she puts in the stew but there is a slight scent of cloves, anise, cardamon and or cinnamon but no goaty smell. Because I dislike goat so much, we ordered the veal but the owner insisted we should try the goat and gave us a tasting portion (on the house) I smelled, I tasted and then, we ate the whole serving. The veal was good too but the goat was better. Owner says she does not put any of the spices I mentioned above in her recipe. Owner claims to have a secret touch to prepare the goat meat avoiding that goaty smell. Well, she sure does know how to do it. The meal was served with plain white rice, stewed potatoes and a lettuce tomato salad. Simple wholesome food. We also tried as a started goat croquettes and bacalau patties. All good but pale in taste to the goat. The restaurant is cozy and tavern like. It is deep inside the building past the coffee shop. The restaurant is decorated with photos of the owner when she first started cooking at 15 and then another photo of her at 19. She is still there today, cooking, serving, and welcoming everyone warmly. It's not gourmet nor fine dining it is simple, clean, honest, good tasting mountain food. On your drive in this area of Portugal, stop in. There is a set lunch menu. The place can be reserved for special events for not more than 50 persons,

Family of four stopped for lunch. Teresa is a small restaurant at the square in Lanheses. We ordered Cabrita á Serra D'Arga and got really big portions. Nice staff.

Restaurante acolhedor com a típica lareira. Um ambiente de restaurante caseiro com comida bem confecionada. Simpatia fantástica dos proprietários.

Ambiente acolhedor, comida muito saborosa e pessoas muito simpáticas e atenciosas. Recomendo vivamente.
