L'Hippocampe - Vichy

I have eaten both expensive and cheap food in five continents. I highly recommend this place for a great old school dining experience. Meals were expertly prepared, no distractions such as smart phone conversations or television. Everyone too busy conversing or eating good homemade five...star gourmet food in large portions at three star prices. This place has a great assortment of good dishes too numerous to elaborate upon. Choose one of the set menus between 30 and 45 euros and ask the server to suggest the wine for the meal. Seafood dishes were top chef ! A rare five rating from me.

Another visit to this specialist restaurant and the food is as good as the last time. Excellent Lobster set Menu. BUT and it is a big BUT, the service is as slow as ever. Our meal took 3 hours for four courses and we only...received our simple starter after some 45 minutes. The food can't be criticised, but the extraordinarily slow wait time and poor communication does affect and impact on the whole dinning experience which could be so much better. We would also have liked to have seen a menu explaining what we were eating and or have the waiting staff explain clearly what we were being served. It would also be normal for them to ask us what we felt about the food and perhaps from a management perspective to reduce waiting times, arrange for bookings to be at staggered specific times. We booked and were told we could arrive when we liked!

Le menu spécial homard est vivement recommandé. Cela dit, le service n'est pas à la hauteur de ce qu'il y a dans l'assiette.

Une "maison" ! Le menu homard nous a régalé Ambiance, tempo, service, rapport qualité prix excellent ! Nous avons choisi le menu homard, 95€ pour 2 personnes avec demi bouteille de vin blanc, une merveille Merci pour ce moment !

Ci siamo capitati per caso, siamo arrivati a Vichy verso l'ora di pranzo ed abbiamo parcheggiato nei paraggi. Ci ha subito ispirati. Era un po' tardi, quasi alla fine del servizio ma ci hanno fatto accomodare ugualmente. Abbiamo scelto il menù del giorno che prevedeva, con 22 euro, un antipasto, un'orata con ratatouille di verdure, formaggi e un dessert a scelta dalla carta dei dessert, noi abbiamo optato per un ottimo soufflé ed una degustazione di varie specialità al cioccolato nero. Tutto veramente buono. Se siete nei paraggi fateci un salto.
