Smokey's - VICTOR

Update: 9/03/22 As we were on the street, we returned to dinner and were pleasantly surprised with the Ribeyes. Properly cooked, nicely seasoned, the potatoes and asparagus were also good. Waiting until we were helped was somewhat longer than I would have liked, but the servers are all on the young side and seemed inexperienced. Luckily, they are setting and hopefully they are able to get some more experienced waiting staff. All in all, an enormous improvement over the previous visit. Keep it on Smokey 's! The experience at Smokey 's has gone drastically down. Previously, what was an amazing gourmet experience has turned into a buffet breakfast delivered by Shoneys, with a price tag more in line with their old fare. When they turned into a menu instead of the cook prepared buffet, the food took a nasal cream. Sad, as it used to be one of the best places to eat in the state.

You may find a place to eat when visiting the New River Gorge area. Sunset evening meal in the beautiful outdoor deck area. Good food, fast friendly servers and a great culinary experience.

Exceptional views and exceptional dining. It is rare to find a place surrounded by awe-inspiring views, exceptional service and world class entrees. The Surf and Turf was the tenderest, most perfectly cooked steak I have ever eaten and the ginormous shrimp artfully balanced on top brought the art of plating to a master chef level. The asparagus was cooked to perfection. We ate outside on a covered balcony with rain dripping and pouring, in a group of about 60, yet each steak came out hot, perfectly cooked and with amazing presentation. Shamefully after eating my fill of steak and sides I had a huge portion of blackberry cobbler served out of a cast iron frying pan, it too was the best. A few steps away were world class views of New River Gorge. That night the bridge was shrouded in clouds with lightning flashing overhead. An exquisite all around experience.

The food was good, the service is really bad. They sat us -5 adults and 3 children and gave us 5 glasses for water. We asked for 3 more cups for the children and a carafe of water for the table and they brought the carafe and not the cups. We ordered 2 appetizers and the children's food with the children's sides the waitress said were options and we ordered our adult drinks. The food came -no plates for the appetizers, no cups yet and no adult drinks. We asked again and received the plates, but no cups or adult drinks. We shared our glasses for the water and after a very long time we went to the bar to order our own drinks and found them sitting there. The service has never improved. The bill arrived and there was an additional $3 fee per child meal?$9 extra for the pages. The waitress reviewed with management and after a very long time, told us the pages we ordered?t for the children meals and they offered a $2.20 discount on one of the pages. It took a long time. The food was good to only work with the service is really frustrating.

This place definitely surprised me with exceptional food and service. Absolute mouth gasm with each course and food come with perfect timing. Great atmosphere and views.
