We both had different dishes and they were both good. I did have to send mine back since I had asked for no onions and got them anyway. But they were quick to redo my lunch and I got extra brocolli intead which was great. Will be back.
I've been there many times , but my recent visit to this place left me with bitter taste food and service To begin with our server took her 20 minutes to get our drink order for ( 2 diet Coke) not Martini or glass of wine Once she brought our drink another 10 minutes to take our order , once our order was taken it took 30 minutes to get food out , and trust me it wasn't busy at all .Food wise ? let me tell you its not the Baan Thai I know it was taste less flavor zero and you name it Try it another time maybe until then , I will go eat Thai food somewhere else
Our first visit to Baan Thai. The waitresses were nice but scattered, We had 3 separate waitresses attending to us. One would think with that much attention nothing would be missed. We weren't offered chop sticks like other tables, we were given a fork and spoon no knife. No bowl or serving spoon for the very large bowl of soup. We weren't asked what spice level we would like our food, we had to confirm that we wanted medium hot.The food was good, but, more effort could be made to cut up the chicken, especially if you don't provide knives. The chicken pieces are thin but huge and long, very difficult to eat in one mouthful. The soup Tom Gha, the mushrooms were raw, to many and were honestly not cleaned, just cut up and thrown in, not washed,I picked them all out.The flavour of the soup was ok, the Penang and the cashew chicken good, other than the ginormous pieces of chicken, which were difficult to eat.I found the prices very expensive for what you get, a dish with no protein is $12-14 add protein add $4-6 so you are looking at almost $20 per plate, the dishes aren't that big, I was disappointed overall. I gave 3 stars because the Penang and the cashew chicken had good flavour but to be honest there are lots of Thai restaurants in Victoria, I will try those before returning to Baan Thai.
Really enjoy eating the Thai food at this Restaurant. The quality is great. Lunch specials are a great option also.
Service was great. It was busy in a Friday night, but no waiting. Had a couple curries which were awesome:the Panang Pak and the Gaeng Keo were so flavourful. Wasn't crazy about the Massaman Gai. While I loved the flavours of the sauce and the chicken, it was the potatoes that tasted like they had been reheated/absorbed the fridge flavours. Hopefully the cook can change the way those are done b/c otherwise the dish would be amazing. Would definitely eat there again.
