Feedback gevenWe wanted a bite to eat, but had our dog with us. Checked online for dog friendly restaurants and found this place. Dog friendly refers to the fact that they have water dishes outside for the dogs and you can seat and eat on their benches outside. The food itself was very tasty. We tried the Chile con Queso burger and the Big Crunch chicken burger and were impressed with both. All the wrap and products they use are apparently compostable which means the cups and straws must be made of compostable plastic.Nice touch! My only suggestion would be to add picnic tables with the benches to make the outdoor eating experience a little easier. Overall good food, good experience, and we appreciated being able to have our dog with us.
Went there because they offer a gluten free bun for hamburgers , as kids are Celiac , and they really liked the bun and hamburger. A bit pricey , but the portions and quality of the hamburger reflect that - will go back next time we are in Victoria
Very popular location in Cook St Village. The hubs enjoys their fast food-style beef burgers. Not cheap "fast food" prices with added side and drink but ingredients are quality, farm fresh and local and they don't cheap out and use iceberg lettuce! A step above FatBurger and Johnny Rocket, however....The veggie burger desperately needs attention!! I wasn't impressed - the deep fried patty was hard, dry and not that flavourful. Rather shocking actually. For nearly $9 it wasn't worth it. They are a dedicated burger joint in Victoria, known for a great beef burger, so it was a disappointing experience. I sooooo want to come in and enjoy a good tasty veggie burg! I see I'm not the only one on here who has the same feedback. It's such a competitive market in Vic with other joints knocking it out of the park in similar price range like Bin, PB, Chuck's, Dead Beetz, Feel Good Butchers with like-minded eco-local philosophy so I found my burger experience disappointing. Hubs- Beef Burger: 7/10Me- Veggie Burger: 1.5/10 (how painful to even write that!)I still stand by my $7.50 Black Bean Burger at Pink Bike as best value (and taste) in town.
Had the double burger with Cajun fries. The quality of the ground beef is very evident and just makes you wonder why all burgers don't taste like this. Simple burgers with a condiment counter to tweak it to your needs. The fries are yummy as well. Definitely a place to go for great burgers.
Big Wheel Burger products are not cheap, just as expensive as some chains like Fatburger or Johnny Rockets. The difference is the Big Wheel beef patties look like they are hand shaped, fresh and the other larger chain burger restaurants have mechanical frozen, beef patties that were squirted out of a machine assembly line at some factory, which they were. Fatburger and Johnny Rockets are good, but they lack the home style feel of Big Wheel Burger. I like the college, university student feel of the staff, other customers, and the environment of Big Wheel Burger. The other mentioned larger chains have a very stiff corporate feel to them. There are now 3 Big Wheel Burger locations to serve Greater Victoria. I think they do need to expand their menu choices in the salads, low fat, low calories, more healthy product areas.
