Legislative Dining Room - Victoria

If you have the opportunity to book a table for a meal here. The food is very good, but the place itself is the great attraction. It is the BC Provincial Legislature, finally! Prices appropriate. Worth the trouble.

Was really happy for our lunch here, but surprisingly the food (we both had the Teriyaki salmon) was pretty bad. To be fair, the service was excellent and our two appetizers (garden salad, cured lens soup) were good, but the salmon entree pampered... Fish was dry, rice was dry and sauce had an overly sweet “from a glass” taste.... Too bad the atmosphere is pretty cool here.

Our relatives from the city invited us to join them for lunch at this restaurant. The staff had a nice attitude and our waiter, Shane, provided excellent service despite being new. He was knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. The food was delicious and served in generous portions. We particularly enjoyed the Montreal smoked meat sandwiches with fries, as well as the option of soup or salad. The Chicken and Brie Burger and Cod were also tasty choices. The restaurant has a license, so we were able to complement our meal with local beer and cider. We couldn't resist trying the desserts, which included chocolate cake and lemon bars, both of which were delightful. We are looking forward to trying their breakfast menu next time. It's important to make a reservation and bring a government-issued photo ID, as we noticed a foreign dignitary and their entourage dining there as well.

I discovered the Legislative Dining Room while browsing online for restaurants in Victoria during our recent visit. We decided to have breakfast there and the meal was incredibly delicious. As we were leaving, the friendly security personnel kindly asked us where we were from and mentioned that they were offering an American Thanksgiving meal later in the week. Since we had no plans yet, we quickly made reservations and enjoyed a second holiday dinner at the restaurant. Our server, Pilar, was amazing and attentive. We highly recommend experiencing this wonderful and historic dining spot. Enjoy!
