I highly recommend New York Fries for their delicious fries, which are consistently good - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. You can also opt for a loaded version or add a hot dog if you're feeling hungry. The seating area is spacious and the staff are quick to clean tables for a smooth dining experience.
I arrived in Victoria later than expected and wasn't in the mood for a heavy meal. I decided to check out the Bay Centre, a good option for a rainy day, and discovered a nice dining area on the top floor. Although there were many Asian food choices, I opted for a hot dog and fries from New York Fries since I had already had Asian food in Seattle. The fries were hot and crispy, and the hot dog, despite being served on a large bun, was surprisingly delicious. As a Chicago native, I take my hot dogs seriously and never eat them with ketchup. I was pleasantly surprised by my meal at New York Fries and give them kudos for a satisfying experience.
This was my first meal in Canada and it was okay. The food was fresh but lacked flavor. I tried Poutine and wasn't impressed, I would skip it next time. I prefer American cheeseries. Also, watch out for payment - I paid in US dollars and received change in Canadian dollars, which others at the Food Court didn't do. Just a heads up for other tourists.
Had authentic n.y. fries in new york, that was great... fries here not so great .. strange soggy... the Gravy had no taste except taste of salt.
First meal of any kind in Canada and it was meah at best. Food was fresh, but lacking flavor. Wanted to try poutin and I'll skip it next time. Give me some good American cheese fries and I'll be happy. Watch the payment too. Paid in US, got change in Canadian. Others in Food Court didn't do that. Tourists beware
