Although they do cater to the more typical western style Chinese tastes, they also have some very authentic dishes on the menu. Everything I've had has been very well done, but I think to really experience this restaurant it would be best to go in a group, take some chances with a few of the more unfamiliar menu items and share! This place might be more busy if they didn't even bother with the westernized dishes and went full authentic. ;)
Wonderful authentic meal, friendly service. The chef's suggestion portion of the menu is a treasure trove of interesting dishes.
We were a bit concerned given their full-page ad in one of the tourist 'where to eat" guides but walked over anyhow. You could probably have a mediocre meal if you stuck with the Westernized options, like (ugh) chop suey. We had the beef pork in chili oil, chicken with potato and green pepper, and the stewed lamb dish. GREAT! We'll be back to try more of their regional specialties.
Found this on our overnight stay and was very happy we did. The service was prompt and very caring. She questioned my choice since it is not a thing that Caucasians would usually order, but she did it with a smile. I told her that since I had never tried it, that is why I ordered it. SCORE! Pork "Hamburger" for a starter. I could have eaten them all night. The whole meal was tasty, even with the Canadian habit to use less salt that the USA does. It is on the table for you. The bill was small and our bellies were full. Yum.
