Volksopern Cafe - Vienna

I visited this restaurant twice for lunch during my visit to Vienna, on both occasions I was only looking for a light meal and was recommended to the soup of the day with bread and bottle of foam water, on both days the soup was excellent,... My biggest surprise was when I went to pay, I was asked how much I wanted to pay on my experience, in all my travels around the world this was a first for me, I offered to pay 10 euros, which I believed to be more than fair for both parties. A truly unforgettable experience highly recommended.

We dived here for a quick coffee before we visited the ballet. Sitting and decor were utilitarian, but service was fast and friendly and excellent value. Right over the street from Volksoper.

Before the opera visit broke in. Good service and delicious cake! Right next to the opera. A cake!

Call one hour before the Volksoper. Although we were served fairly fast to our drinks, given a menu, and raised by the chief waiter that there was time to eat before the show (as everyone here is going to the Volksoper! Nobody came to take our order. The headstand stood at the end of the bar, looked at a pinch of water and stared at the middle distance, which was odd, given our earlier exchange. The menu looked good, but at the time when a waitress said to take our order, it was too late. This was not representative of the excellent Austrian hospitality we were used to!

Dropped in prior to opera visit. Good service and tasty cake! Situated next door to the opera. Have a cake!
