Taberna Do Caloiro - Vila Nova de Gaia

Best buffet served at the table experience I've had in a while. They deserve a better location to become more well known. Would be a hit in Porto center.

This comment refers only to the francesinha and is a report of experience, not exactly a criticism. This was a place I loved going to in the past. The last time I visited it was about 5 years ago and I actually remember now the reasons why I didn't go back. Having ordered the francesinha, it came with the steak full of nerve, both the fresh sausage and the sausage should have been more cooked, otherwise they would feel like chewing gum on the palate. I didn't feel the bread was toasted, but it should be so it doesn't seem so soft and doesn't combine with the rest of the ingredients. The potatoes were warm and looked like leftovers compared to the freshly cooked ones on the next table. Finally the sauce was almost inedible, not having much flavor at all although it was slightly spicy (nothing against that).
