The service was pleasant without being obtrusive and efficient without being hurried. The croustillade d'escargots arrived on an emerald green plate and was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. As was my husband's rillette. I chose the guinea fowl in mushrooms accompanied by a generous serving of fresh vegetables. We went a bit astray with the filet mignon mariné au gingembre. We both thought it was going to be beef! Still our french is improving! In any case both were juicy and generous servings. The dessert was a delight. A strawberry choux ensemble with petits macaroons. It was wonderful. Would I go back? You betcha!
We selected Le Menu du Terroir and were very pleased with the quality of each dish. Twenty three euros for a four courses meal is remarkably reasonable -particularly when each dish is so meticulously prepared. Each dish is also beautifully presented. There were five of us and we all enjoyed our dish equally. My main course was a debonned (if that is the term) trout with a delicious stuffing and lots of vegetables. My husband chose the filet and said the sauce was amazing. The cheese plate was well chosen. After all this, we weren't very hungry for the dessert until they came and then we forgot how full we were. The mille-feuilles with the star anise sauce and fresh raspberries was amazing. I should have ordered a second one.The service by the owner is very good; she is very friendly and very funny. Each table has fresh flowers from the owner's mother. What a lovely touch.A minor complaint that has nothing to do with the food or the service: the window looks out to a very unattractive patch of unkept grasses and weeds and new buildings. A few shrubs to hide the buildings and flowers would make the view a lot more pleasant.
We didn't expect us to find such a quality restaurant when we were in villeny. we really enjoyed the menu, wein terroir options were really nice. from salad very fresh as they care, through a wonderful cheese and a delicious viande. to finish a desert that was an art work. I strongly recommend for every holiday close. it's a gourmande expérience, worth the price.
