Viola 's is a family run restaurant meaning that most (maybe everyone) working there is family. They take the quality of their preparation seriously. The result is 4 star food which on my scale is very good . The only time I have had better is when I lived in Chicago 30 years ago and would give that 5 stars (though the quality of that downtown Chicago pizza has since fallen from that 5 star level). With that scale in mind, Viola 's is 4 star. I have eaten pizza elsewhere that is as good, but not often. While I suppose that every restaurant can have a bad night, I have been to Viola 's 4 times and it was very good each time. 4 stars is good enough that I am willing to drive 40 minutes on occasion to Viola for Pizza. Service is not fawning. It is sufficient. You place your order and pay after eating at the cash register. The food is brought to your table. And all 4 times I was there, when I gave them my card for payment, it was charged for the pizza and handed back to me with no tip requested or added. It 's hard to complain about that. The atmosphere is good enough. The interior is nice, clean, simply decorated, unobtrusive. It 's fine. On my scale, that is 3 stars. I like Viola 's. It's unusual for me to find myself at a loss for words when it comes to a restaurant, but I had to give myself time to think of words to really do this place justice. There really aren't words to cover it. I have not had pizza like this ever in my life. The crust is this perfect, pillowy bed that's just the right level of chewy to support all of the amazing fresh toppings they provide it with. We got a half ham and pineapple and half cheese, which my kids and their friends inhaled, even though two of them are picky eaters. We also got a Strolling Jim pizza, and this pizza was a whole other level of amazing. The flavors melded so perfectly, the hot honey sauce ties everything together beautifully, and look at it it's seriously a work of art. When is pizza this beautiful?! Well, apparently when you go to Viola's Pizza Co. The portions of toppings to cheese to sauce are absolutely perfect without needjng to request adjustments, which is thrilling, as so many places drown their pizza in sauce. As much in this restaurant as possible is made in house, and in today's world, that's a huge deal. We also got garlic knots and wings, and man, I tell you, between all that I had on my plate, the wonderful conversation with the owner, the cleanliness of the entire place, and the quick service, I could have died happy right there. We were welcomed and fed like family. I can't wait to eat there again! We did not get to have dessert, we had all gorged ourselves on pizza, wings, and garlic knots, but they have a selection that almost makes me regret not leaving room for something sweet. I'll have to do that the next time we go! Kid friendliness: I had four kids with me and the staff never barred an eye! The pizza was great! I wish I had gotten to try the garlic knots. The guy and his daughter (I'm assuming) was a great duo! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
