Always walk by, but never came in! Great place to grab some lunch if you’re looking for a change up. Interesting seating, as if you were at a picnic! Tasteful bread choices and yummy ham!! Definitely recommend coming and taking a seat at their picnic table!
Favorite place for a hot sandwich. Many choices of sandwich meat and bread. Very friendly. Cozy. Small salad bar is just right as aside for your sandwich . I've been going for 40 or more years.
I 've been going to the Picnic since I was a kid...occaisionally when my folks happened to be in town etc... Now I am 48 and it is still our family 's [siblings] favorite eatery in Visalia. The food is still fresh and delicious as it ever was...the menu hasn 't changed (hey, if it ain 't broke... and they still make the most amazing cream and fruit pies in Visalia. Along with the owner, John Ratzenberger, I remember another elderly gentleman and a sweet elderly woman running the place when I was young, and though I haven 't seen them there in years, the Picnic continues to be my favorite indulgence. Growing up I 'd never lived in Visalia proper, or I would have been on first name basis with everyone there. I do continue to eat there during their later hours, 5:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday thru Saturday. I don 't mind the drive from Lindsay for dinner if I know I 'm going to have my usual...the California BLT, their fresh, green salad with some of their wonderful pasta salad on the side, and to top if all off...one of their 'perfect ' cream pies...usually chocolate. The different friends my husband and I have taken to the Picnic remark at how well made and fresh the food is. We 've always had the best service as well. Everyone is polite and accomodating as they can be so it makes a trip to the Picnic all the more gratifying. I can 't give the Picnic any other rating than the five stars it has constantly deserved for being the best Visalia can offer in good, honest and unpretentious fare. May the Picnic flourish for years to come.
