The plat du jour and a la carte meals we chose were excellent and the service fast and jovial despite our poor french. We then chose to return for a leisurely saturday lunch on our way back to Cherbourg rather than try spmewhere on the way. The early spring sun was out and we had a lovely view sitting on the terrasse facing the chateau. The owners were superb and very helpful. Had a wonderful french family next to us with two beautifully behaved little boys that we struggled to compliment. Lemon tart and chocolate mousse thoroughly recommended as was the lamb shank and steaks...in fact nothing was less than great...many thanks and will be back.
This restaurant is located directly opposite the Chateau de Vitré, which made it a nice place to lunch for my friend and I, as first-time visitors to Vitré. We went for an inexpensive, 2-course, formule €12 each); tabbouleh to start and then a faux filet with chips for a main course. The whole bill came to €30 with drinks, which we thought was great value, considering the location. The staff were great; friendly and helpful. The tabbouleh was nice, though nothing spectacular. The steak was tasty, but took a lot of chewing. I still felt the meal was good value, but wouldn't recommend the restaurant unless you're more interested in the location than the food.
Great view, nice food, friendly staff! If the sun is there you can also enjoy your meal at the terrasse. The dessert Salade d'agrumes is very exotic! Interesting choice of spices! It is a must try! Café gourmand is not bad either!
