Gasthaus Zur Traube - Vorderhindelang

Had dinner here three times during a five-night stay at the Hotel Malerwinkl in Bad Hindelang, Germany. (Zur Traube is just a short p, but steep, walk up the hill from the hotel.) On each occasion the entrees were top-notch. Schweinehaxe in dark beer sauce was the best I've ever had, and other dishes compared favorably. Most dishes included a trip to the salad bar. Some American visitors may be put off by the fact that the salad bar is nothing more than several bowls of assorted vegetables laid out on a long table -- no refrigeration, ice or "sneeze shield", and only one dressing is offered. Understandably, service speed varied with the volume of customers, but was always friendly. Visitors from the U.S. should be aware that American credit cards are not accepted here.
