The Chorizo with hummus, short ribs and dumplings were all amazing appetizers and paired could make a meal. Most of our large party chose from the tremendous specials offered including the pork tacos and delicious tuna grade salmon dish. The waitstaff were great and recommended several incredible wines and beers. including Quebec's own Le Trou Du Diable.
We had in-laws visiting from out of town and this is where we ended up when walking along the street looking at options. Everywhere else was full so it probably should have been a warning that it wasn't busy here. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly good either and for the same price truly excellent meals can be found in Montreal. My mother in law ordered a bacon and grilled cheese sandwich (it was the featured menu item of the day) and it came without bacon, and had to be sent back at great delay. I had a fried chicken sandwich which didn't use the best quality meat and tasted like a version one could get at KFC for 1/4th the price.
Service very good, nice space (a little noisy, or vibrant - take your choice). Evening Paella special was tasty, but with undercooked rice (and not much of it) and a weird garnish of salsa fresca and guacamole. Just really did not work. I'd try again, and hope for better based on the other reviews.
We went there several times. near the house, it is a perfect example of an interesting neighbourhood restaurant. The kitchen is pleasant, though not always equal. However, they are very professional and do not hesitate to take a plate if it is not your taste. In addition to the menu, there are always the dishes added to the slate. The service is good and very friendly. It's good to go back.
I like little restaurants that focus on great food and that was what I was looking for. The restaurant looks the part and their menu is interesting and inventive. The two of decided to order a number of dishes. Cauliflower and brussell sprouts, Chorizo and hummus, Mushroom toast, Dumplings and Octopus. All were tasty but not exceptional. The humble dumpling which is one of the least expensive item on the menu stood out as the best dish. The chorizo was cold on one end. Had to get server to have it cooked more. That should not happen at this level of restaurant and no one really seemed that bothered by serving a customer a cold dish.I thought that $21 for mushroom toast was a bit much as well as the Octopus for $26 considering they are not full entrees. The place was lively and every nook and corner had someone sitting. Sitting at the bar, you are almost in the kitchen and can watch the chef and staff at their thing. Some people may not like that.
