At first, I thought it was just a coffee shop, but there is actually a fascinating story behind Di Bosco that I won't give away. The interior is quite unique, with a library even included. I will definitely be returning in the future.
A well-rounded honest review. The restaurant has nice decor, friendly staff, and delicious food. However, the service was lacking. We had to wait an hour for our food to arrive, despite being served coffee promptly. It was frustrating to be left waiting for so long before our meal. We noticed other diners leaving, likely due to the long wait. The food was tasty and well-presented, and the servers were pleasant, but we had to constantly ask for basic necessities like napkins, salt, sauce, and butter. There were no side plates for the toast, so we had to butter it on our hands. It would be helpful if everything was brought together or if the staff paid more attention to what was needed. We were also left standing at the till while waiting to pay, and no one acknowledged us as we left. Overall, while we appreciate supporting a small local business, we hope they address these issues, as they are consistently mentioned in customer complaints. We would return for the food and decor, but not for the service and wait time.
We visited this restaurant for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. The linguini carbonara was excellent, with a generous portion size, and my husband loved his fish and chips. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Called for a sandwich lunch and was shown to a table by a pleasant waitress who said she would come and take our order. Some 15 minutes later she came to take our order then returned with our drinks. After a further delay of about 25 minutes I went to the counter to ask when we might get our food. Two girls behind the counter had their backs to me and I had to interrupt to gain attention. I got a dismissive comment from one that she would 'go and ask '. However, we could see her from our table and she never moved from the spot. Eventually we managed to get the attention of our very busy waitress, who (along with a male waiter), seemed to be the only helpful personnel in the place. She was very apologetic, gave us a second complimentary drink but our food was a further 15 or 20 minutes My husband had an adequate ham sandwich, I had cheese and tomato. The cheese was grated and frugal to say the least. One hopes someone of management rank might read this and instruct staff to advise customers if a wait of an hour for a sandwich is to be expected. Customers then may choose to go elsewhere
Such a shame because the potential of this place could put it at the top of places to brunch. 2nd try for us after new ownership. We had brunch. Eggs Benedict and a small breakfast. Coffees were excellent. Waiter was nice. Waited 20 mins for coffee and water. Ok, they were busy. And lovely wait staff. 40 mins later for breakfast. Clap cold. Small breakfast missing 2 items and the smallest egg ever. Benedict on ‘fun size’ uncooked muffins. Tiny eggs. Cold. I’d wouldn’t normally do a bad review on a local business but….when I took the owner/ manager to one side and discreetly told him the issues….he was dismissive and rude. This man also took every opportunity to speak to his staff like absolute dirt in front of customers. ‘Don’t delegate to him. He’s a runner. That’s his job. What is your job again? You need to organise this’….’why aren’t these tables cleared? Get these tables cleared now’….and more. Appalling. Total disrespect to his staff who were doing a really good job despite such obvious lack of management and training. He couldn’t work out out how to refund on card. So he gave £1.50 in 50p coins. Maybe you should look at your lack of ability and not be nasty to your staff. Who were amazing.
