Thaal - Wakefield

Lovely food and great service, we haven't been here for a couple of years but the food was amazing and we will definitely be back soon. We were a table of 4 and we all really enjoyed our meal. Service was great, we didn't need to wait for our drinks to be topped up.

This is the third time we have visited this restaurant. Last night was for my husband’s birthday. It was a Monday and Halloween. I booked a table for 7:30pm for 3. The first time we visited the restaurant in August everything went really well. Great food and service. Second visit was a Friday night and the service was poor but again the food was good. I thought I would give it another go as the poor service could just have been a one off!! How wrong I was. Only one other family in the restaurant when we arrived and they soon left leaving us the only people in the whole place you would have thought that this would have resulted in excellent service but it was completely the opposite. The owner treated us like we were a complete inconvenience! Never smiled huffing and puffing at us. There was a young man who rolled his eyes every time we asked for anything. Only one member of staff who smiled and was polite. It was such an awful experience if it wasn’t for the fact that it was my husband’s birthday and that the food was nice I really wanted to leave. We will not be visiting again. If you do not want people to come to your restaurant on a Monday night then please don’t take the booking! I so wish we had gone somewhere else!!! Disappointed and upset that my husband’s birthday meal was spoilt!!!

I made a reservation for 7:30 last Saturday, but when I arrived at 7:20, I was asked to wait. Our drink order was finally taken after 8, and we didn't sit down at our table until after 8:30. We didn't receive our food until just after 9, and there were no apologies. It seemed like they prioritized walk-ins or overbooked customers over those who had reservations.

We decided to order food over the phone for takeout, and it was definitely the right choice! The food was absolutely delicious, with a fantastic variety of vegan options for my partner. She enjoyed the Dupiaza, and I loved the Bhuna - both dishes come highly recommended. The service during pick-up was exceptional, with an excellent host. I will definitely be ordering from here again, as it was well worth the 20-minute drive!

We arrived at the restaurant early for our 6:30pm booking because we were hungry. Despite it being a Monday night, which is usually quieter, the restaurant was surprisingly busy. The staff were very busy but still remained cheerful and helpful, as always. If everyone else enjoyed their meal as much as we did, they must have left very happy and satisfied. I highly recommend Thaal to anyone who enjoys delicious Asian food served by friendly staff.
