Blackie's Bait Shop - WALNUT SPRINGS

The steak dinner is outstanding, and the atmosphere is fantastic! I love bringing all my friends here to escape the typical commercial restaurants!

Great food in the middle of nowhere!Quite a small town.We drive over when visiting the Whitney area.A true classic reminiscent of the wild west.Dauber and his wife are excellent hosts.Be sure to call the day before and reserve or “guarantee” a steak for you.Excellent steak at a very reasonable price.The Hemingway sandwich is excellent but does take a bit of time to be made.Have a few drinks while waiting, the skinny margarita would be a good choice ; Parking: There usually plenty of parking on the street. Did I say it is a small town?

The Bait Shop is a great place to spend an afternoon or evening! Dobber and the staff are great to visit with, and the food is excellent. Pizza crust with honey, yes, please!

We decided to visit Walnut Springs to experience Blackie's Bait Shop for ourselves after hearing a lot of positive reviews. What a fantastic place! The owner, Dobber, is incredibly warm and welcoming, chatting with everyone before heading to the kitchen to prepare delicious steaks. After your meal, make sure to cross the street to Blackie's After Dark for an entertaining evening at the piano bar, then relax upstairs for a peaceful night's sleep. Everything is conveniently located. We had a wonderful time!
