Aldridge Chippy 2 - Walsall

I hate to give small local businesses bad reviews, but that was their second chance! a few months ago I experienced beautiful fishing and chips from here, light crisp battery, perfect chips. so good I think that we should change from our local and. here for a family contract. at the second opportunity, a busy Friday night, eating was completely different! chips and fish splash soggy and greasy, kebab meat hard and dry, we have thrown away most food! today, on a wet cold midday, I thought I would give them another try. I arrived shortly after the opening so that surely everything should be freshly boiled right? No, I watched my fish was taken from the warmer and saw it in his limp batter and my heart sank! I saw how the muddy peas were served and almost gassed at the lively green color! I paid my money and went, I knew it wouldn't be good. during the dewrapping of my meal my fear was confirmed before the chips, a large fat mass! the fish I took from the soggy battery, tasted fresh, but the rest went in. I didn't dare to eat the brightly colored peas! I don't give aldridge chippy 2 any chances anymore.

Decide the Aldridge chippy on a pretty regular basis and the staff are always very friendly and the fish and chips and southern fried chicken usually to s good standard but sometimes I feel the food has maybe been cooked and been standing.sometimes the batter...being hard and chicken dry,maybe as it is open almost all day everyday we have been unlucky and we do like the chips a bit more browned in colour.Saying all this overall we enjoy the food and will continue to visit

On arriving at the chippy I was happy as there were only 3 people in the queue in front of me and 2 were either being served or appeared to be waiting for something. 10 minutes later the first customer contact are you waiting for...kebabs Yes I replied expecting a follow up. No follow up. Just looked at the person behind me and asks the same question No was their response. Still no follow up. Just carried on cleaning the cabinet he had been cleaning since I walked in. 2 minutes later the guy turns to the woman behind me and starts asking for her order. I'm not a fan of poor customer service so walked out and went to a chippy that is worth my custom. I will not be returning. For a chip shop that always appears empty I always seem to spend more time waiting than in others where customer satisfaction seems to count for something. If you have some time to waste then this is the place to be.

Bought two meals one fish the other roe The fish was tasteless and the batter fatty and soggy in the middle. Not at all impressed would have scored lower but for roe and chips cooked well. I will have to look elsewhere.

I am an occasional visitor, calling usually on my way back home from a trip out. The staff are friendly, the food is good and I have never had to wait for more than a few moments as busy people come and go with lunch...or dinner!
