Feedback gevenMy wife, mum, and I decided to try this restaurant for Sunday lunch after my mum's friend and neighbor recommended it. The traditional two-course meal at this place is excellent and offered at very reasonable prices. There were 3-4 meat options, a variety of mixed vegetables, and a vegetarian option to choose from, all of which were simple but very delicious. For dessert, there were several options to choose from, and you could finish off your meal with a cup of tea or coffee. The food was all homemade and served by friendly staff, making it feel like a meal with extended family. It's advisable to make a reservation in advance as it seems to be a popular spot for locals. I definitely plan on booking here again in the future.
Came for lunch on a Tuesday with 4 other adults, we had all been before so we knew it would be good. There were the usual roasts on offer as well as homemade faggot's and a cod and salmon mornay and a couple of more dishes. After ordering were didn't have to wait long before our piping hot meals arrived and they were all really tasty. Puddings were ordered from the board and once again arrived piping hot along with our cups of tea. Yes you do get your regular older generation in there but for value for money for such nice food you will be hard pressed. You can also have breakfasts here but I haven't yet.
I ordered roast of the day which was piping hot although the vegetables were a bit soggy ....the portion size was very small but I did notice a. Lot,of elderly people in the cafe who probably eat less The staff were very friendly and I will return .
Passed many times and today decided to try it out with a friend for lunch. Obviously has many regulars, who order from the specials board, consisting of a main, pudding and a tea or coffee. Seems like the regulars are looked after but not if your not a regular. We decided to order from the menu a main, pudding and I small cup of tea which ended up costing us twice the amount, each, of the specials. All because we didn't fancy any of the mains on the specials board yet all the puddings were the same. We had tea for two in a teapot that was half full. A salad garnish which was requested without onion, it came with onion. Asked if we would like either salad cream or mayonnaise, asked for salad cream, we got mayonnaise. We waited quite a while to be served (people came and left whilst we still waited).
