Today, I had already eaten when I saw a manager's special that was too good to pass up (see picture attached). Even though there was no more of the special available, Louise went above and beyond to provide me with exceptional service. She was professional, friendly, and helpful, guiding me to another option that exceeded my expectations. The extra effort she put in was definitely worth it. I am not related to Louise, but I truly appreciate her outstanding service. She is a credit to the restaurant and the industry as a whole. Thank you, Louise.
I visited this restaurant on the evening of Monday, October 24th, 2022. The regular customers, or what you might call them, seemed to be quite intoxicated and were talking very loudly, which was quite intimidating and could be heard throughout the entire restaurant. When I asked one of the staff members if this was normal, they replied yes. Later on, there was constant swearing by other customers, which could also be heard by everyone. I believe this is unacceptable as the Wetherspoons in my area would not allow this behavior and would have them quiet down or leave with zero tolerance. The clientele here was by far the worst I have ever encountered, and it is concerning that they are allowed to act this way without consequence. I am glad that this is not my local restaurant, as I would not want to revisit it again. The beer was good and the restaurant itself was nice, but the behavior of the customers was a major negative aspect.
We used to visit this restaurant regularly, but the meals and quality appear to have declined. The steak was awful - thin and chewy. We have now started going to the restaurant across the street instead, and it is much better.
Good selection of real ales and the JDW menu. Went here for dinner one evening. Lot's of space and a good atmosphere. Staff very good and working hard. Food to the usual JDW standard.
I was in this Weatherspoons on 25 May. The staff are great and the beer and food are good. Never had a problem in here. While waiting to meet a friend of mine went in for a beer. Sat down at a table by the bar. On the table next to me we’re two men, later joined by a female staff member who had finished their shift. One of the men started using homophobic vile language and then proceeded to play out loud on his phone a vile homophobic song by an American punk band while the member of staff and other man laughed. Why so upset? I have family members, both male and female who are gay. Even if off shift the member of staff should have told him this was not appropriate. But they just laughed. I ended up moving tables as I wasn’t prepared to listen to this any more. Called the manager who advised me they were ‘on my break’. Is this acceptable? No it is not. After years having a positive impression of this pub will not be returning, nor will my family and friends. Absolutely disgusting this behaviour seems to be acceptable. Will miss a beer in this pub, but am not putting up with that.
