I came over josephine restaurant in charlotte street and wanted to taste more and more Filipino dishes. Josephine’s restaurant has been in the centre of london for over 20 years and serves authentic Filipino dishes. Although it may look like a shady restaurant, it serves great Filipino food. the restaurant was empty when I arrived and during the duration of 1 hour, the only person she serves. the Filipino cuisine is an interesting mix that invaded Spanish so it has Spanish Asian influences.
I was here a few times and it's always good to eat. it is the only filipino I am in the center of londons and the only filipino I have ever had with an prise salt. Their peanut sauce chicken is great, and their filled cap is not bad. her bark is also beautiful. make sure to order a garlic rice! the price and the portions are good, especially in consideration of the situation. Apparently, the restaurant has been there since mid-1980s and it is currently fighting with the rental and chains open around them.
Josephines is a philippine restaurant that is often overlooked on the lively charlotte street. I've been here for years, although it's very close to me when I'm filipino and was more than willing to hate everything that wasn't cooked at home. but on an evening I had an insatiable appetit on crispy pata (golden and then roast pork) and finally gave in. the meat stack was generous, the bones remained in the did, and the flesh was prepared as it should be. so many different textures and aromas made available from different areas of meat, skin and cartilage. also the biko bibingka (glutinous rice cake) was better than my family. so pleased that my expectations have scattered after I'm not here for so long. I will certainly try again the other filipino classic in the offer.
I loved how authentic the Filipino cuisine at this restaurant was. It reminded me of home-cooked meals and I will definitely be coming back in the future.
I honestly never thought about Filipino cuisine until the day we bumped into this little place called Josephine’s in the heart of Fitzrovia. The place clearly does not express the glamour and the fame of some of its Charlotte Street’s neighbours (Charlotte St Hotel, Roka, Fino, Bamboo, etc). We almost kept on walking, but we were looking for something different from our normal routine, so took a chance and are delighted we did!
