Feedback gevenI am extremely disappointed with the restaurant. The portion sizes are small and overpriced, and the side salad was so dry and full of onions that we couldn't eat it. The atmosphere was bad from the moment we arrived, with the front lady appearing stressed and having a negative attitude. It seemed disorganized with too many people and not enough tables for bookings. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants under different management, but now the waitresses seem exhausted from long shifts. After this experience, we will not be returning to Gökyüzü restaurant in Chingford.
I would recommend avoiding the Chingford branch of this restaurant. The service was the worst I have ever experienced, with rude staff who are in need of customer service training. My Sunday afternoon was completely ruined.
The male employees at the restaurant made me feel uneasy and I felt like I was being bothered. It was not a welcoming atmosphere.
This is a warning for people with allergies. We recently happened to dine out at Gokyuzu Chingford with my sister who has a gluten allergy. As with any bigger restaurants, we spoke to our server regarding her gluten intolerance and went about our meal, also paid 10 percent service charge on top of our bill because of this! We come home and my sister had a swollen belly, ache and intestinal bleed that showed up in her stool. I called to talk to the manager since they also charged us separately for preparing food with allergies, but they took absolutely zero responsibility. They want a doctor’s report, which she can’t get since she’s only visiting (unregistered with gp) and its not worth going to the emergency and wait for 11 hours (our hospitals usual wait time) just to show a restaurant that she got bloated because of their food. Next they’ll ask the patient to get an internal scan to show them the exact damage of the food, and lets be real with NHS waiting lists that could take up to a year, and who would pursue and allergy complaint for that long. Extremely unprofessional and absolutely disgusting behaviour from the staff with zero empathy for customers. Ps. We have dined out at several restaurants successfully and yes turkish ones too without any complaints! It’s all about the level of care the staff has! Also I didn’t once ask for a refund, infact I was only pushing the fact that they should probably say no to people with allergies so that no one else winds up sick!
Love coming gukyuzu food never lets us down. Little disappointed as there was no salt and pepper on the table not offered sauces. Not offered tea for after dinner even though normally we would get offered. There was no interest from the staff they were too busy speaking to guest they new instead. To even noticed others guest around them. Had to ask for our own tea after paying our £130 bill After eating my dinner with my husband.
