The food is consistently fresh, simple, and well-made, and the chips are outstanding. If The Nest in Tumbarumba is closed, Walwa Store is definitely the next best option to visit.
On our way home from Corryong we decided to travel via the river road. As it was mid morning we called in to have morning tea. I only had a coffee but my wife also had toasted raisin bread, she said it was lovely.
The service at this restaurant was extremely rude. While one younger woman who took my food order was lovely and friendly, the older woman who took my coffee request was dismissive and unhelpful. She acted as if my request was unreasonable and showed no interest in providing good service. Despite the struggles businesses have faced in Victoria, this restaurant did not value new customers and treated them poorly. The woman's behavior was so unpleasant that we decided to leave and find a friendlier town to dine in.
Grabbed a burger for lunch and was fab old school burgers with the lot gave me flash backs to my childhood
After a morning touring the Corryong Valleys we stopped in at the Walwa General Store on the recommendation of a local friend. The service was so friendly , the schnitzel burgers we had were so fresh and tasty we were not disappointed. Greatly enjoyed being able to buy everything we needed for our local stay in the well stocked store also.
