Halcombe Tavern - Wanganui

Great spot. Lovely staff, looks like some improvements being made by new owner. We enjoyed our afternoon there when passing thru.

Atmosphere friendly, bar and kitchen staff helpful. The decor is definitely due for an update. Chairs were stained, and the dining room needs a refurbishment. The meals were good, steak perfectly cooked, however one of our group ordered a lamb burger with tomato, lettuce, Mayo, cheese and caramelised onion. Burger was delicious, but there was no caramelised onion or tomato on it. When the waitress was informed, she just shrugged it off.

Well first of all the tavern is a good watering hole and had good food it served my favorite beer Waikato the greatest ale in New Zealand the people who served me were friendly.

A really cool nostalgic tavern! Seems to have a cool local following. Jed was a great host owner! Definitely worth the stop by!!!

Only been here twice, but both times the barmen were friendly and conversational. Food was good and real reasonably priced, and the pub was busy. Kids playing and having fun this Friday evening seems to have a good social following. May just have that something extra. Probably deserves a 5
