Let's start with the service. Welcoming. As soon as I walk in I'm greeted with a smile. They also speak loud enough for me to hear through the thick glass. The portion is more than enough. A little pricey, like everywhere else. We always get at least 2-3 dinners with 4-6 different sides. We set it up as a buffet when we get home that way we can have a little of everything. The only thing I can say negatively, is the pot roast too salty.I suggest maybe smaller portions for dinner, which will lower the price a little, or lunch portions all day. A side sampler will be nice. Sometimes I will like to cook my protein. I could come there for my sides. The Mac and Cheese, Collard Greens, Corn, Green Beans, Candy Yams, Spaghetti, and Vegetables that are in with the roast. I will come just for the Corn Bread. So, if you want Soul Food for Dinner packed with a smile, this is your place to go.
I usually go to Lape and 7 and Van Dyke, I went to this one and was very disappointed, don't like the rib tips they use, OxTails was Def flavorless and needed to be cooked longer it was tuff, no gravy, and I didn't get to the red beans and rice til the next day, after putting in the fridge I put them in the microwave this morn and it taste very spoiled, I need 7 mile lape back please.
The food here was really good, I tried the catfish dinner with mac n cheese and it tasted amazing. The cornbread was also top tier. The food took a little long to come out but it was easily worth the wait, and there are no tables inside but there are a few chairs for people while they wait. Definitely worth the trip for their food.
Oxtail dinner. It is great!!! Had mac cheese greens. All delicious!!
