Saint George River Cafe And Meeting House

This place has an incredible location that makes the food almost secondary. However, the meal my husband and I had was delicious and definitely exceeded our expectations. The staff is fantastic, and there’s free Wi-Fi available. The dining room has a charming atmosphere reminiscent of an old community center, and the outdoor seating area offers stunning views of the St. George River.

We had an incredible breakfast with welcoming hosts. The waffle sandwich and breakfast chimichanga were both outstanding. The coffee was excellent and the view was lovely. Make sure to stop here on your way to the mid coast! I gave it 5 stars, especially for the fun trivia cards mixed in with the sugar packets. We loved it!

This was my first visit since the cafe changed ownership, and I was thoroughly impressed. We made reservations weeks in advance for a special event featuring a local pop-up chef, and I can't express how delightful each course was. The cafe still retains its charming community vibe. The new owner warmly welcomes regular customers and continues to host themed nights each evening, including comedy nights, open mic events, Sunday brunch, and special weekend dishes.

It has a very relaxed and casual atmosphere. It's a small place and the tables don't match but that's okay because it gives the cafe a homie feel. I go there sometimes on Tuesday nights to sing at open-mike. The cafe doesn't offer a regular menu on thisnight. Instead they have a set meal that they call a community meal. Usually it consists of a salad or soup, main dish and adessert, but it's all you an eat for a recommended donation of $25.00. Everyone seems to know everyone so it's a nice place tolisten to music and make some new friends. Sometime I plan to come there and try out their regular menu to see what that's like.

Great place. Menu changes daily according to available local foods. Really fresh and delicious. The owner came to our table to ask how we were. The fresh tomato soup was tangy and savory with fresh basil. Served with grilled cheese on wheat was perfectfor the chilly spring evening. Lovely location with fresh air,doors open to the deck and the sound of babbling river, seagullsdrifting overhead and excellent live music to complete the iconic Maine dining scene.
