Charles was our server and he went above and beyond for us. It was a busy Friday night as there was a concert across the way. Charles had several tables to attend to and yet he met our every need. He gave us recommendations when we asked. Our glasses were never empty. Although, the food was delicious, it was Charles that made our dining experience memorable. We started with the bacon confit which was small in portion but filled with flavor. The short ribs with polenta were tender and rich with flavor, the steak frites were perfect for my husband. Our friends enjoyed the prime rib sandwich and macaroni and cheese. The thin French fries were seasoned perfectly. Thanks to the staff for a lovely dining experience. Charles, when we return, we owe you pizza.
Great location to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Very clean and interesting restaurant. The staff is very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the food, hotel and local history. Our son gave us a gift card for this place and we are sure glad he did. If you live in the Indianapolis area and or just passing through, I would recommend stopping in to relax with a beverage of your choice and lunch/dinner. We enjoyed it!! One more thing. I forgot my cell phone on our table. Walked about a block then realized it. I hustled back and one of the awesome employees was at the door with my phone in his hand...he said he tried catching us be we were already gone. This says a lot about his character. He and the female bartender/waitress sealed the deal on us returning to this fine establishment.
Our server, Brock was excellent! Very kind and helpful. When we arrived the place was empty, my wife and I were seated by the windows near the front. Shortly after being seated they sat a large group with obnoxious kids right next to us. Why? The place was empty! All that did was ruin a pleasant dining experience for us. They could have been sat at any of the other 20 or so empty tables instead of 4 feet away from us. Our food was ok, smash burger was good! My wife's salmon was ok, but a very small portion for the . Plenty of other, possibly better options, within a 5-10 minute walk. If I had to do it again, I'd take a stroll down the street and try another option. Probably why no one was there at 6pm on a Saturday. I give it another six months before it's gone. One note for management. Our server indicated that some of the gluten free options listed on your menu were not actually gluten free. Glad we asked for clarification. If we didn't ask and my wife ordered the half chicken, which your menu indicates IS gluten free, she could have ended up in the hospital, please make sure the menu is accurate when indicating gluten free options.
Food was ok, but the service was very slow. It seems as if they needed more people. Don't order the bone marrow, it's not worth the price.
We bought two tickets to their New Years Eve dinner. The restaurant was occupied to about 50% capacity when we checked in with the host. We arrived on time, were seated but then didn’t see a server. I waited for ten minutes before I approached the host to ask if we had been assigned a server and even then there was an additional delay before they came to our table. The menu was pre-selected for the evening so ordering was extremely quick. The first course didn’t take long to arrive but, we didn’t get entree’s for another hour, and the remainder of the courses were extremely rushed. The food was good but didn’t measure up to the price as both our steaks were over cooked. In short, I’d rather spend my money elsewhere. We were shocked that the service was such a disaster. Definitely soured our evening and we left disappointed.
