This was our first time eating here. Food was good. You have options on seasoning to suit all pallets. Service was excellent! Lily did a wonderful job of recommending food and waiting on us. Try the rum butter. It is the bomb! I expected better soul food from Missouri of all places. I thought we were close enough to the south. I ordered mild because I expected a soul food restaurant to really pack the heat in there, but there was ZERO flavor. I had to add half the bottle of hot sauce to my food. Once I did that it was pretty good, I guess just keep that in mind for later.

It is worth traveling to Warrensburg just for Zydeco’s alone—the best restaurant in the city of Warrensburg. If new to the Zydeco’s next to DQ, try the chicken or fried seafood dishes. They are worth multiple tries as it took a few visits to figure out what suits me. Fried shrimp, fried catfish, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, sauces, and textures, are all exceptional at Zydeco’s. The prices are unrivaled. The portions are unrivaled. No quality whatsoever is sacrificed. This is not only the best restaurant in the city of Warrensburg, but a contender for the State of Missouri. Zydeco’s is a diamond in the rough, unassuming in its appearances but all-powerful in its food. This restaurant is by no means perfect, all said. A handful of dishes are just okay for me, but the rest are exceptional. My head hit the headlight multiple times just getting up normally—if you are not a fan of me, enjoy that mental image Warrensburg. Interior was themed and decorated okay. 3 dollar tap soda is acceptable in the context of the overall prices. I am critical of restaurant prices and this 2023 economy of using the common person until they are suffering dying dust—if Zydeco’s huge delicious soul food meals are too costly for you (they are justly priced) then get half portions, la carte, or ice water. My disappointment with restaurants seemed endless to me until now. Let it be known Warrensburg has one superior restaurant in quality, price, and portions—Zydeco’s.
