My beef pita was delicious, generously packed with fries inside. The platters come with ample servings of sides like fresh salad or tomatoes with cucumbers. 2) **Experience**: In light of the pandemic, we placed our order online for a quick pickup. The online ordering process was straightforward, and they provided timely updates via text or email about the status of our order. 3) **Ambiance**: The café is designed with a cozy atmosphere, complete with Greek-inspired decor on the walls and rustic wooden tables and chairs. Although the space is small, it feels inviting and well-utilized. 4) **Service**: The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant experience. 5) **Location**: Conveniently situated in Dupont Circle, the café is surrounded by numerous restaurants, vibrant murals, parks, and museums, making it a perfect spot to visit.
My favorite Greek restaurant in DC! The food is consistently fresh and served hot. The pitas are generously filled with crispy, well-seasoned fries. The meat is cooked to perfection, and the pita is fluffy without being too soggy. This is my go-to place for lunch in the area. Outdoor seating is limited due to the small space, but definitely take advantage if you find a free table.
**Menu Highlights:** They offer a variety of hummus spreads, pitas, spinach pies, feta cheese pies, zucchini dishes, beet dishes, numerous salads, fries (plain, Greek, or Mediterranean style), pita wraps with chicken, lamb, shrimp, pork, or mushrooms, beef patties, rice, drinks, and Greek desserts. **What I Tried:** - **Spinach Spanakopita** ($9.75): This flaky pastry filled with spinach and feta cheese accompanied by garlic hummus was DELICIOUS! It had a mild flavor, but I would definitely order it again. That garlic hummus? Perfect! - **Merides Platter** ($16.95): This platter included two chicken skewers, Mediterranean fries topped with crumbled pecorino cheese and oregano, pitas, spicy feta cheese (Tyrokafteri), and a refreshing Earth salad. Everything on this plate gets a STAMP! The skewers were grilled and flavorful – pure WIN! The fries were served hot with their skins on, and honestly, they didn’t need any dipping. The spicy feta cheese was mildly spicy, cheesy, and simply perfection when paired with the pitas. And the Earth salad? Rarely do I rave about a salad, but the vinaigrette and mostly arugula base were fantastic! - **Shrimp and Lamb Skewers**: Another big STAMP! They were a delightful addition to my meal, tasty and abundant. - **Kadaifi** ($6.25): This dessert made with wire kataifi dough, sweet chopped nuts, honey, and sweet butter was wonderfully flaky, sweet, and ridiculously tasty – get this! - **Imported Greek Sodas** (Lemon and Orange): Definitely STAMPED! These were refreshing palate cleansers. **Customer Service:** Excellent! The staff was attentive and accommodating. **Online Navigation:** Easy to navigate. **Parking:** A bit challenging; it’s metered and enforced. **Recommendations:** I highly recommend everything I mentioned above! Each dish deserves a STAMP for being delicious. #Bigschlimsreviews
This place would easily be 5 stars if they prioritized dine-in customers a bit more: when we got there, there wasn't anyone seated, but it still took 30 minutes for us to get our food because they were so busy with to go orders. We each ordered platters and oh my gosh it was so much DELICIOUS food!
Souvlaki is a great place for a delicious and quick bite!! It is a fast food place, but the decor inside makes it seem a bit fancier. They also offer a fun selection of Greek drinks! However, you must purchase water if you want it.
