This is a fantastic and free museum, but there are a few things to be aware of when/if you go. I almost didn’t get in because I didn’t have my COVID card (I had to go through my deleted camera roll to find it) and each person needs an ID or some sort of identification (even kids). You also cannot bring in any water bottles so you have to leave them in the lobby. The museum isn’t huge, but you’ll easily spend 45 minutes here. You probably won’t be here for more than an hour. There is free parking at the front, and there was plenty of space available when I was there. The closest metro rail stop is a mile and a half away, so you need to take the bus here if you don’t drive. This is a really cool museum, and I would highly suggest going because of how unique it is. Don’t forget to explore Georgetown if you’re in the area and haven’t been. Tudor place is close and so is the old stone house
The museum was pretty awesome. Some of the items were amazing to see. I was disappointed for two reasons. First, their website makes reference to their amazing gardens. There was no access to these gardens. And second... The gift shop was only open from 2:00 to 5:00. If they carried some of the stuff in the theme from the museum, I would have loved to pick up a couple of souvenirs. It's pretty fast going through this museum. It's in an amazing neighborhood. Remember to bring your covid vaccination card or you will not be admitted
Historic garden in DC’s Georgetown, gifted to Harvard. Hills with various themed terrace gardens. Also a museum that is worth visiting. Some of the buildings additions architected by luminaries (i.e., Philip Johnson, Robert Venturi. Need online tickets in the age of COVID. Worth a visit, but need to be able to hike a bit to visit the gardens.
This is an excellent museum hidden away in the hills above Georgetown. Although it is small, the collection is impressive and diverse, featuring artifacts from both Byzantine and Meso-American cultures. Each display comes with informative descriptions that effectively explain the significance of the artifacts and their cultural relevance. Plus, since the museum is free to enter, you really can't beat the price!
