I decided to order from that menu for safety, although I am not sure if all other items on the regular menu are also vegan. Some people have complained about the prices, but it is typical for downtown restaurants.
I absolutely adore this restaurant! They offer custom-made rice or noodle bowls, as well as miso noodle soups. There are several vegan options available, all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed. They have a wide variety of gluten-free and whole grain rice and noodle options, as well as plenty of vegetable choices. The food is flavorful and always prepared quickly. Since I work nearby, I visit this restaurant about once a week.
Although not my top choice for dining in the downtown area, this restaurant is sufficient. The food is quick and tasty, with options mainly limited to rice bowls or noodle bowls due to the non-vegetarian broth used in the noodle soup. Building your own bibimbap can be affordable, but it consists of mostly rice with a small amount of toppings. For those seeking a more varied menu, it may be more enjoyable to dine elsewhere. Additional toppings can be added at an extra cost, especially if you prefer a generous portion of vegetables. The vegetable options are decent, but may not satisfy those who prioritize veggies over carbs. The menu offers a variety of choices including burdock root, steamed broccoli, cooked carrots, seaweed salad, roasted seaweed, bean sprout salad, and steamed kale. Noodle options include wheat, udon, buckwheat, or clear yam starch, while rice choices include white, brown, or black rice. Tofu can be added for an additional charge. The restaurant offers a variety of sauces such as sesame oil, sesame seeds, and spicy options like peanut or sriracha sauce. The food can be on the salty side, possibly due to the abundance of starch in the dishes.
I love Korean food but struggle to find vegetarian food with substance at most Korean restaurants. Rice Bar's Subway-style approach to bibimbap makes it easy to put together a filling Korean-style vegetarian meal. This isn't a fancy place, it's better for a quick lunch when already in the neighborhood. I like the food a lot but have read on other sites that people think the food is too salty and/or not authentic. As to being too salty, I guess I just think Korean food tends to be salty. As to not being authentic enough, I lived in Asia for years and think it's pretty authentic, but I obviously can't speak to the authenticity of the meat! I wouldn't mind if it was a dollar or so cheaper for lunch here, those toppings can really add up! The last time I visited, my bibimbap and soda were $11.50 total and I had tried to restrain myself when ordering. Still, I was happy I stopped by for lunch.
That is not my decision for eating in the city, but it is enough. it is fast and delicious. two decisions, really, since the broth for nudel soup is not vegetarian, so I would not trust the suppe either, so they go for a rice bowl or a nudel bowl. building their own bibimbap can be very affordable, but it will be 80% rice and 20% toppings. as such, it could be more exciting to go somewhere else, which does not focus on reis first. they can add more toppings, but it will cost them, and it will quickly add if they want a buck of sweet. the veggies are decent, but not in a high ratio for those who eat veggies first, carbs take. many choices: burdock root, steamed brokkoli, grated carrots, seaweed salat, roasted seaweed, bon sprout salad, steamed kale. nudeln: weizen, udon, buchweizen or clear yam strength. reis: white, brown or black. add them to tofu for a few dollars more. the place has a lot of sauces, so on some sesame oil, sesame seeds and a hot soße (spicky peanut, spicy chili/ sriracha) or just another soße. it can be salty in any case, so I think it is so much strength (nudel / rice base!)
