Glenroy Hotel - Waterloo

Once one of the best pubs in inner Sydney, with a thriving clientele and packed beer garden, The Glenroy Hotel is a train wreck with it's current owners and I doubt it's viability.  The beer is poor, always flat, little to no head, and the staff don't get it and sadly, some very poor English skills I should not have to point out ! The Chinese makeover is dark and dingy complete with bland Chinese food.  As locals, we really wanted this pub to work but sadly nothing looks like changing... no wonder it's always empty. Time to bring in the wrecking ball.

This is one of Sydney's best kept secrets for Chinese food and I only know about it because I work in the area. I am super picky with my food generally and this place is up there with the best Chinese in Sydney (may be the best).  My friend from the the Sichuan province in China says its the best Chinese she has had in Sydney. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because it is in a sort of older looking pub (not in a cool way) but the food is exceptional. Totally recommended.

Thought we would give it a go and try the food. Double thumbs up!!! Impressed. Will eat here again Got the red curry ordered spicy and didn’t disappoint!! Steaks were good as well!

Honestly it's a great spot. Little rough around the edges but good character. The menu is really great too! The Pint Parmie deal is BEST!!

Nice old pub. young henry is on hahn. good food. pinball, shoot game. many rooms in the pokies back smoke garden.
