Hale and Hearty Pancakes - Waterloo

This place it outrageously good. I have tried many things on the menu. Their pancakes are without doubt the best I have EVER eaten. The red velvet ones are my favourite. I'm also in love with the avocado greens bowl - the granola is unbelievable. If I could eat here for breakfast, lunch & dinner I would. Also the service is great & even if it's packed they will call you when there is a spare table. The food is very instagrammable. hehe

Terrific food, terrific service, cosy and convenient. Good coffee. If you stay in Waterloo, especially at the Meriton, this is your breakfast spot! Only downside was the lack of knowledge of some of the staff about ingredients in some products.

Everything we ordered here was absolutely delicious, and we were jealous of everything else we saw being served! Definitely get the red velvet pancakes!

On two separate occasions my husband and I ate at 'Hale and Hearty' because it was around the corner from the Meriton....bad mistake but I was tired. Yesterday the coffee was below average but decided to give it another go. Big mistake! Today it was the worst bitter coffee I have had in Sydney....it's not a one off! My husband also had a coffee and he too left his coffee mostly untouched. After second bad coffee, I shared my experience with the staff who looked displeased with me and seemed to not care if I was unhappy. They said nothing and I asked them if they can make me another..which resulted in giving me another undrinkable coffee. After we shared our disappointment AGAiN they just said sorry and after some silence said they make it again...no thanks it would have been better to be offered our money back. Food was ok but not worth the cost and hype. If you like sugary fattening pancakes and bitter coffee then this is your place! Far from their goal of being a top breakfast place around Sydney...Avoid!

This place is Mad. I'm from QLD and haven't experienced anything like this. Friendly staff and an engaging owner. The food creations are fascinating. The Brekky Burger for me... yum, and my lady friend the Blueberry Pancake... she finished it all which says something. Nice little place with atmosphere and the coffee does not disappoint. Thanks for that guys.
