Runways Cafe - Waterloo

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Our glasses came full of red lipstick (neither of us were wearing). The salad that normally comes with bacon came without. First we were told it never comes with it (we had it the week before and it did come with it) and then we were told that they were out (while we were eating wraps THAT HAD BACON IN THEM). When politely requesting a discount the manager (within an earshot) made very nasty comments about us. We spoke with the manager and she was just incredibly argumentative, and apparently we "should get used to glasses being dirty becuase that happens everywhere and all the time". It was overall a very negative experience.

Plenty of room, great selection and a great view of the runway to watch the great variety of planes come and go in relaxing style while waiting for passengers.

I feel like this place has gotten better over the last couple of years. My wife and I used to go for breakfast on the weekends. Since having kids had has become a favourite place for weekend breakfasts. The food is standards breakfast fare but the experience of seeing the planes come and go makes for a nice environment.I recently had the opportunity to eat lunch here a few times and was very impressed. The menu items are not very complex but they are well executed and tasty.I look forward to going back again, and again.

Met up with some others for dinner here. Very friendly staff and good food. It is so much fun watching the planes come and go and taxi on the runway while you eat. Food was very good . Friends gave it a two thumbs up and we all would go again! They do close early ( 6 PM when we went ) so double check before going.

Have taken my 2 boys regularly over the last 3 years to watch the planes and have breakfast. Food and service has always been fair, but when combined with the backdrop of the planes - it is the first request for breakfast by the boys.September 7th at 11am:My 2 boys and I arranged to meet my 2 brothers and mother for a visit, breakfast and take in the planes. Called in advance to ensure open but no answer - only voicemail. Checked the website which specifically noted they were open this day 8am to 3pm. We all arrived only to find no one there. Spoke to a group of the flight instructors and enquired if they knew why no one was there. Their response surprised me. "Sometimes they open late, close early, and sometimes (as today) don't open at all".Very disappointed. You shouldn't be able to run a business advertising one thing (open) and then not show up. Put everyone in my group out and really disappointed the kids. Shame. Hope you enjoyed your long weekend day off.
