I didn't order any sides but it came with burnt end baked beans (I think) which were pretty solid and then this creamed corn which I would never order normally but I was pleasantly surprised with. The ribs were fairly disappointing not very meaty nor tender tasty but I was drawn here by them offering baby back ribs. Hard to find almost all places are St. Louis so props to them for offering that. Maybe in some time I will give them a shot again
Uber delivery. Our order was not complete. We ordered 2 meat 2 side double pork was definitely not double barely a portion was in the container ordered maple baked beans cold slaw. Baked beans did not make it in the bag. Ordered a pint of creamy mash potatoes charged for it and only received a side. Same size as cold slaw so definitely a side portion. Baby Back Ribs were good. Pulled pork we did receive tasted good. Peanut Butter Snickers Pie was really good and so rich a small portion is perfect. Staying at a hotel asked for plastic silverware none received. Good thing God made fingers before forks. They really need to double check their delivery orders before stapling them shut. The next day the manager did refund us half our cost and apologized for the inconvenience so I am adding a star since the food was really good and there was a follow up.
I've had their chili twice. The first time was amazing, the second.... Had a few bad bites in there.... Was very fatty; was more like a sauce then a hearty chili. The Mac n cheese was mediocre; not sure if they're using a rue but it's pretty thick and lacks flavor. The cornbread was more like a little to my puck. I'd use it as a weapon before I tried eating it again. The mashed potatoes.... I'd drive a half hour in traffic for those potatoes. They were spicy.... Buttery.... Delicious!!!! Maybe the best I ever Had. I think the only thing this BBQ restaurant is missing.... Brisket. They offer a few different kinds of meats but no brisket. I'd go back again for the potatoes alone.
I had high hopes for a new bbq place near Boston. Ive struggled to find great BBQ anywhere near the city since I moved here from Florida about a decade ago. Secret sauce does a decent job with some things, and completely drops the ball on others. The good: Ribs were actually smokey, decently well cooked but could have been more tender. You get 3 ribs in a 1 meat or 2 meat and two sides meal, so not a very generous portion, but not awful. They seemed a bit under seasoned and relied too much on the sauce...I like a good dry rub with a small amount of sauce..If you like heavier sauces then these should be quite good. I 'd say they could have spent another hour in the smoker to get to fall off the bone goodness, but the flavor was nice. The pulled pork was a little chewy, but again, good flavor. They threw in a few triangles of toast and some spicy pickles, made for a decent pulled pork sandwich. One of the sides we got was good (see below). The bad: we ordered 2 meals. One was 2 meat two side, the other was 1 meat two side. The 1 meat meal had ribs and undercooked (slightly raw) unseasoned grilled corn that had 5 kernels with a black mark on them. Smelled off as well, didn 't eat it after the first bite. This meal was supposed to come with fries, but they weren 't with the delivery. Other meal also came with grilled corn, still a bit under seasoned (came with melted butter on the side, but needed a bit of salt while cooking), but nicely grilled, juicy, and generally good. Big grill marks, nice char, not burnt. Cole slaw was the worst I 've ever had. Dry raw cabbage and huge slices of raw red onion. You can see a tiny bit of watered down mayo on some of it, but very little. No flavor other than strong raw onion. I 'd say the ribs and pulled pork could earn a solid 3-4 stars in this area, and if you just want some BBQ it will scratch that itch. Won 't win any competitions, but it 's a lot better than most of the other bbq places I 've tried in the city. Lost a star for terrible sides, and lost a star for bad quality control and missing an item in the delivery. Grilled corn and Cole slaw are some of the easiest sides you 'll ever make, and they proved that they know how with one of the ears of corn, but the other was inedible and the Cole slaw was awful. I 'll let a lot of small mistakes slide when eating southern food up north, but this was too much. Might give another chance in a few months if they are still around. If they get their act together and fix up their sides they could be a good local BBQ place. As is I 'd say only order if you 're really craving BBQ and don 't want to drive out of the city to get something better.
Twenty dollars for tough pulled chicken, chopped up hot links and two small sides. Value wise, a complete rip off. Taste wise, very disappointing. I will not be returning.
