I was hoping that the northwest Ohio farming community would have appreciated the difference in the typical Cracker Barrel fare and Upper Crust's fresh food, freshly prepared and superior cuisine. Sad news for a great dining experience at a very reasonable price. You lost this one, Ohio.
This is definitely one of the best restaurants i a 50 mile radius. Top quality entrees, coffee, bakery and service. Stmodphere is very comfortable!
Soooo good! Food made from scratch and your taste buds certainly can tell!
The restaurant decor is very modern, rustic, and vintage; love how it is all mixed . The service was friendly and attentive. The menu options all sounded great, and since I love trying new flavors I selected an appetizer and some pasta with pesto sauce which also came with a salad, and O-M-G, it was delicious; the pasta is freshly made and the flavor was just perfect.
The Upper Crust is a real find in an 'off the beaten path ' location. Located in downtown Wauseon, this restaurant is an extension of an artisan bread bakery and the menu is built around the fresh products produced by their own ovens.First of all this is NOT a pizza kitchen. Instead look for appetizers and entrees that are both tasty and nutritious, often showing a surprising flavor twist, such as the sweet potato latkes served with a sauce designed to make you imagine you are eating pumpkin pie with whipped cream. If you want a light appetizer then ask for 'Hey, Margaret ', a flat bread served with Italian flavors like sun dried tomatoes, basil, olive oil. Or to share with the whole table choose 'The Upper Flats ', a plate of flat bread, fruit and veggie slices served with hummus and a house made cheese spread. The entrees include a variety of small plates and sides including various burgers and sandwiches served slider style. Or you can have your pasta as fresh made noodles or veggie pasta. Build your own grilled cheese sandwich, or choose a salad along with a dressing made in house. There are a variety of specialty soft drinks and cocktails to enjoy. Or If you make it through with room to spare the dessert case holds a selection to make you wish you had started there first. A couple of notes: These items are prepared when you order them, not in advance as most restaurants do, so expect to eat in courses. If you like to watch the food being prepared then sit at the counter and be entertained, because nothing is hidden. And the prices reflect both the cost of the food and the gratuity no tips are desired as they are paying their staff a living wage.Lastly, they do breakfast as well, but that will require another visit... I hope it is not too far off. Enjoy!
