We were seated at a table that was so dimly lit we could hardly read the menu. The waitress informed us that the darkness was part of the restaurant's decor, but that didn't solve our problem. When the manager approached, he was just as unhelpful. No one offered to bring us a flashlight or turn up the table lights. Luckily, I had my iPhone with a flashlight app, so I was able to read the menu and then pass it to my husband. This was not the best way to start a meal at a restaurant we've always enjoyed. Doesn't anyone care about customers who struggle to read in low light?
Ristorante is like traveling back to Italy for an amazing dinner!!
Our experience was not anything special. The wait staff was cordial but we felt somewhat rushed. The tour of Italy menu approach was explained to us but there was no explanation of how the dishes were being prepared, unless we asked. There wasn’t any kind of standout in any of the 4 courses served, although I did enjoy the risotto. Wine selection was limited and very pricey for a glass. My husbands seafood primi had scallops that seemed undercooked and the Rosa tenderloin dish was served with a chunky (not enjoyable) purée and undercooked mushrooms. At $125/person, this was pretty underwhelming and not the special experience we were hoping for.
The service and food were nothing less than top shelf. We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed our first visit to this Bartolatta's location!!!
