Checked into the motel and asked where we should go for dinner..the receptionist rang the "best restaurant in town" to see if they were still open (it was 6.15pm) Advised to get there quick as they close at 7pm. Arrived, the place is run down and shabby. The people where very nice. The food was absolute **** and my husbands soups was still cold and frozen in the middle. Terrible food. Won't be back. Sad as it could be renovated to be a retro type restaurant if done properly!
We tried all of the local breakfast eateries in Wells and Barkerville. While none of them were substandard, except for some watered down coffee in one establishment, the Northwoods Restaurant was best. Linda, Bob, Karen and Amanda all made us feel welcome and, even better, part of their family. Their breakfasts were tasty and more than enough to keep us until supper time. Two highlights so simple but so meaningful come to mind. Linda offered us a bowl of huckleberries that she had just picked herself. We had never tasted them before. And there was no charge for the favour.Three-year-old Sara warmed up to both us quite readily. She cozied up close to Marie in our booth like grandkid to nana and engaged in some very stimulating toddler conversation with Marie. Sara even let Marie share some of our huckleberries with her!
My wife and I had breakfast here. It was average, thought the hash browns were underdone and cold. This restaurant is like stepping back to the 70s. Inside it is colourful (though the flowers are fake). The exterior could use some work to make it more inviting
The day after a wedding, we enjoyed the Sunday Brunch at this restaurant which offered a wide selection of breakfast and lunch items. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The decor inside the restaurant was a bit worn down but seemed clean. The women's restroom was simple but tidy and functional. The following day, I had breakfast there and ordered from the menu. The bacon and eggs were tasty. The hash browns seemed to be frozen and were quite small and cubed, but they still tasted decent.
