The crust is hard and not fluffy at all. The filling has a somewhat undesirable texture, reminiscent of acidified cherries, but not quite right. It has an overly syrupy quality and lacks flavor. It's unfortunate to see that what used to be quite good has now become exceptionally poor.
My daughter purchased a COVID test, but when she got home, I opened the box only to find that there was no test inside. My wife called the store, and they promised to bring a replacement. However, when I drove over, the staff informed me that they couldn't do anything to help. The store manager came over, made no effort to communicate, and simply held a sign that read, "All sales are final," without saying a word. His demeanor was unprofessional and rude. I understand the policy about final sales, but this situation was unacceptable, especially since we didn't even receive the product. Their customer service was terrible, and I will never return to this store. They claimed it was impossible for the test to be missing because the box was sealed, but one side was sealed while the other was not.
If there's a mistake with your cash payment and you notice it after checking out, you'll have to wait in another long line to get your money back. The cashier didn’t see the dividers and accidentally charged me for the customer magazine. When she asked if it was mine, I replied no, thinking she just took it from the entrance, but apparently not. I really wish the prices were displayed more clearly somewhere. I suppose there's a perfect world out there somewhere. I do enjoy shopping at Dierbergs and will continue to do so, but I was disappointed with the experience. The second cashier didn’t acknowledge me or offer any apology; she just said, “Have a nice day,” without even looking at me.
I've always loved Dierbergs because of the clean stores and large selection. The pharmacy has always been fantastic as well, if you go into the store. The outside drive-ups are a nice convenience, but seem to be out of order the majority of the time (noticed over many years). One of my favorite things about Dierbers is the friendliness and the fact that they would ask if you would like paper bags. Well, both of those seem to have diminished. While they still have paper bags, they are not visible, and you have to ask for them. An older lady that has worked there a long time as a cashier, snipped at me pretty good one day for asking about paper bags. I purposely avoid her now, even if it means a longer line. Other employees have been a little crass as well. I have started going to Schnucks lately and found that they are much friendlier. While I dont have to have a person be nice to me, it's still wonderful to be greeted with a smile and feel appreciated.
Went grocery shopping tonight, it was raining when I was leaving one of the workers was outside the doors offered to watch my cart while I went and got my car, and even loaded my groceries for me so I didn't have to stand in the rain. Definitely made my night.
