Sudtiroler Stuben - Werden

We are travelling around Austria, Switzerland and Germany and saw this restaurant had good reviews so decided to give it a go. Fortunately we booked, via email, in advance, which was very easy, as just turning up would have left us disappointed. The restaurant has a warm cosy feel and we were made to feel very welcome. The menu is varied, as is the wine and drinks menu, so something for most palates. Service was good without making us feel rushed in any way but also not feeling forgotten about. The food, we had a sharing platter, was excellent, and plentiful and we would definitely go back.

We were there a couple of times and each times thrilled with just everything. The location is just unique in one of the most beautiful surroundings of The city of Essen. We were sitting right next to the lake with a wonderful view. Food was absolutely delicious and service was extremely friendly and helpful. This place is absolutely recommendable and a must, when visiting Essen.

Suedtiroler Stuben is the quintessential restaurant for a Sunday trip to Baldeneysee with friends and family. It has a very large patio with about 30 tables, but offers good enough views from the inside as well, thanks to panoramic windows. Furniture and decor is modern and mildly upscale, but the general atmosphere is casual. Vegetarian dishes are clearly marked on the menu. I have eaten both Herrengeroestl with pork and salad as well as South Tyrolean fillet pot , and would especially recommend the latter because of the variety of meats and vegetables and the portion size (almost enough for two! . Service was fast and friendly, even on a busy day. Prices were moderate considering food and location think roughly EUR 20 per person for main course and drink. The only downsides were the slightly elevated noise level inside and, in my case, the cleanliness of the table cloth.

I can only give the highest score here. We have chartered a ship of the white fleet for the jubilee celebration of our sports club and guided the gastronomy through the South Tyrolean Stuben. It has all worked great, service and food very well. LECKER!
