I was surprised by the quality of the cooking at Antigua Latin. While the kitchen didn’t produce James Beard quality food, our Paella was one of the best in Milwaukee. Calling Antigua a Mexican restaurant is a misnomer. The menu is a sampling of food from Central and South America. Perhaps the name represents Antigua, Guatemala, a lovely colonial city. Antigua Latin is family owned, and while the service is a tad amateurish, they mean well. The space is decorated nicely, and the tables are placed a healthy distance from each other. A small bar takes up the front room. I will return to this authentic restaurant with a big heart. Our dinner, with a large, expensive paella that could feed four, and two drinks came to around $80.00. That’s a bargain.
Today, I made reservations for celebration of our 3yr wedding anniversary. It was a perfect place for us to have a romantic dinner, excellent ambiance, not overcrowded and the latin music was wonderful. I loved the art and decorations in the restaurant as well. I felt like I was in a small cafe somewhere downtown Spain. The waitress was attentive and very pleasant. She was kind and helpful because we had some questions about the menu. They have this cute couch like a loveseat in the dining area that me and my wife sat in, very romantic. We started with a house salad that was scrumptious. I had mole pablano and my wife had salmon catalana. Both menu choices were delicious. I loved the cilantro rice with my dish. We both had a virgin pineapple mojito. Am sure it’s probably tastes very differently with rum. Needless to say the drink was amazing! The restaurant is right on a bus line so very convenient if you don’t have a car. The owners, The Citlali’s are very hospitable. They gave us a complimentary custard and caramel desert (Flan) including an appetizer because it was our wedding anniversary. Antigua is very much a family restaurant. I would recommend this eatery to anyone, especially if you love Latin cuisine and are looking for a romantic quiet date night spot. I am planning to go back again on a date night. Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian options are available in the menu Dietary restrictions: Antigua has vegan and gluten free menu options as well. Parking: Antigua has a parking lot behind the restaurant. Free street parking is available as well. Wheelchair accessibility: Not sure about wheelchair accessibility at Antigua. They might have a way to get into the restaurant from the parking lot. I did not see a wheelchair entryway in the main entrance. Please check with Antigua before going.
Lovely little family owned restaurant in West Allis that deserves more love! Every dish I had was delicious and highlighted creative, vibrant takes on classic dishes. I loved the sundried tomato and pumpkin seed guacamole and the cauliflower walnut tacos in particular. Their paella also looked really good I'll plan to order it the next time I come back with a bigger group. Despite how it may appear online, they have tons of vegetarian options, with even a separate menu just for vegetarians. They also have tons of food and drink specials throughout the week, including Sangria Sunday and Wine Wednesdays. Prices were very reasonable and my server was very friendly. I look forward to coming back! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian tacos, paella, salads
This was my 2nd visit to this place. Absolutely love it. Great drinks, delicious food, and really great friendly service. I highly recommend their Salty air margarita and the walnut tacos pictured in this review. Vegetarian options: Just a few vegetarian items besides salad. Walnut tacos and veggie empanada
