Amazing bar with great history behind it and a pleasant atmosphere. The staff is great and super friendly. Jess and Sophie were very helpful in recommending food and drinks for our first time here. This is a great spot for fish fry in the Milwaukee area and worth the time to stop in. The classic fish fry and the chicken and dumpling soup is amazing!

Made a special trip to get their famous fish fry. Paid extra $2.00) for German potato salad and potato pancakes. We each got four very small triangles of fish for $18.00, not sure why triangles. The potato salad was pretty good the pancakes were terrible. For a German restaurant to use mashed or leftover potatoes is a disgrace. I told them so but they didn't remove them from the bill.

Great food. Great service. We brought our 5-month-old son and the only way to change his diaper in the bathroom was by using a FILTHY changing pad that was on the FLOOR of the BATHROOM. It ruined my appetite.

Had the 6 sausage dinner and a pretzel. Soooooo good.

Having lived in Germany I can give you an honest review of the taste and quality. I ordered the Rahmschnitzel with green beans and a side of dumpling. Also had the chicken dumpling soup and pretzel. The staff was friendly but it took a long time to get the basics. We arrived right at open because me reservation reminder said to. It was just too early I guess. When the pretzel arrived it was delicious. All 100 percent nostalgia right down to the butter on top and brown mustard. The soup was nice and hot and flavored nicely. The main dish was not worth the price at all though. I understand this is home-cooked but the portion were tiny and I am on a diet saying this. The dumpling had bacon in it. Maybe the Bavarian restaurants and my Oma made it differently not sure but the dumpling had a flavor I did not like sadly. It was not neutral and doughy , it tasted strongly of onions and burned meat..? I ordered the cherry strudel and it was amazing. I didn't snap the cherry strudel because I ate it too fast : .
