The Bowler's Arms - West Berkshire

L was very fortunate to be able to hold my 70th there , Richard the main man put on a super spread and he and his staff were just a delight . l had friends and family coming form all corners and the buffet put on was superb , all gave super comments. You can have the greatest place going but its the staff and boss who make it what it is , The venue is second to none and we were very lucky with the weather and great cricket match to watch . Thank you all

The venue is very non descript think clone pubs like in the film worlds end. If you are not a local expect to be served after they have dealt with their friends. Went to watch a specific sporting event that they decided to change at the last minute (despite checking it would be shown). Won’t be visiting again .

Real shame because any other night would have been a great pub. After a long shift at a different bar I thought I might join my parents and their friends for a drink. Land lady closed the bar at 10:20 although it was open til 11. Was rude and unwelcoming. I understand doing last orders at half past and finishing the last drinks at quarter to. But how is pub that’s only selling drink expecting to make real money by closing at 10:20!! Think this is a really easy fix and a real disappointment considering how great the building and the environment is.

Interesting menu, good drinks selection, and free room for functions. Clean toilets. The décor is poor but this is because the new clubhouse is in the process of being built.

For a little pub on the out skirts of Newbury, this place offers top quality food. The menu caters for a variety of tastes, but all very tasty. When the sun is out, there is also no better garden in Berkshire!
