We had to wait until 8.15pm for our dinner reservation, enjoying the pleasant summer evening under the awning outside. Service was a bit slow, likely due to our table being tucked away at the back, and it took 20 minutes to place our drink order. The scones and Brie starter were delectable, but my chicken schnitzel main was dry and unimpressive. The combination of hot meat on top of cold salad leaves resulted in a soggy texture for both components. Additionally, I was not a fan of the service charge automatically added to the bill.
First visit to the Bull in five years or so. Found the interior now a bit strange with bright lights around the bar and Xmas decorations on the beams. I am the first to admit that pubs have changed but it was a weird mixture of a country and a town pub. The menu had a good choice but Ploughman is no more. The scampi and chips meal was very good but it was served up with multiple pots all of which had to be emptied onto the plate the make a meal. Service was attentive and welcoming.
We started with two appetizers from the 'Whilst you wait' menu - the Whitebait and Sausages, both of which were delicious. My son opted for the slow-cooked pork belly, while I chose a dish from the special menu - Thai cod with rice and sauce. Both dishes were fantastic, and we ended up sharing our meals. The service was excellent, as was the wine we enjoyed with our meal. Overall, a perfect dining experience at The Bull.
I dined at The Bull with friends last night. It had been many years since my last visit, but it was recommended to us so we decided to give it a try. We were very impressed with everything about the restaurant; our cozy corner table, the service, and the food were all excellent. For starters, we shared a variety of tapas-style dishes to enjoy while we waited, followed by Pork Belly, 2 Feathered Steaks, and the char-grilled chicken carbonara. Everything was delicious, especially the perfectly cooked, melt-in-the-mouth, medium rare steaks. The quality of the food was outstanding. Although I usually skip dessert, I couldn't resist trying one here because everything had been so good. The Bull is definitely one of the best local pubs we've dined at and we will definitely be returning. Next time, we may try the Sunday roast, although we are also tempted by their breakfast options! Overall, The Bull is an excellent pub restaurant and deserves a perfect ten out of ten rating!
Had an excellent meal at the Bull Inn, the staff were super friendly and welcoming. The food is exceptional, and a really nice country feeling to it. Very covid safe also.
