We had the chicken liver parfait with homemade sour dough bread outstanding. The panko bread crumbed Brie was also amazing. Then the enormous fish and chips appeared excellent, and we also ordered the burger It was a dark evening so we couldn’t see what looks like a very nice view from the hill top. As well as excellent food, the service was very good. We’ll be back to add the view to the great dining experience.
Only a few things that can be said about our family lunch today. Staff outstanding Food outstanding Locals outstanding and friendly Faultless
A superb Sunday lunch again. A second visit to the Elm Tree was just as great as the first. The welcome is warm and genuine. The glassed dining room has lovely views over the rolling countryside yet was still snug and warm on a cold day. The service is excellent attentive but in no way invasive. And the food...the Sunday roast here is the best I've eaten in any pub. Not only delicious (I had the chicken, my mother the lamb) but utterly delicious. Everything is just right the homemade gravy and yorkies, the side dishes. Your only issue will be trying to finish the mammoth portions. Staff suggested my mother take leftovers home, and wrapped it for her perfectly. Other courses are equally delicious a whitebait starter, apple and berry crumble with custard and also huge. Do not eat breakfast before going. I would say it's excellent value. Oh, and all the tips go to the staff. 10 out of 10.
Heard the Sunday roast here was worth a try and wasn't disappointed! Many pubs in the area offer a roast but my experience is the majority are unfortunately mediocre at best. The roast at the Elm Tree are magnificent and consistently served at the same high quality. If you're looking for a very good roast at a reasonable price I'd thoroughly recommend booking a table at the Elm Tree and giving it a try, your taste buds will be in heaven
We booked for an anniversary meal. We were seated straight away snd waited 20 minutes to order drinks. Another 15 minutes a waitress came over, we thought to take our order. No it was for the kitchen is backed up now and we can't take any more orders. We asked for the manager he was basically not interested and that we could come back another day to have a free meal on the house. But we booked and are paying for our meal, not interested in a free meal. The owner then came out and said the same thing and have free drinks and we will try and get you some food. I'm sorry but if you have booked a table for a meal you should have it. People arrived after us and were given menus. The most shocking thing is that we have been here several times and it has been busy and its never been like this even on a sumners day. Do not book with this restaurant it doesn't give you a guaranteed meal. Shocking absolutely shocking.
