My family stopped at this restaurant during a long motorway journey. We called ahead to make sure our dog would be welcome, and everyone there was friendly and welcoming towards us and our furry companion. The bar area had a great atmosphere, with locals enjoying a Sunday pint being particularly welcoming. The young man behind the bar, Hayden, was especially friendly. The food was delicious and was devoured quickly by our group. Our dog even got some treats! As a bonus, I mentioned how cute the mini milk jug was and was given one to take home. This restaurant will definitely be our go-to stop along the M4 in the future.
We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and were pleasantly surprised by its lovely location. The bar was cozy and the patio beer garden in the back was great. The food was fantastic, especially the chicken curry rogan josh and perfectly grilled chicken wings. The kitchen staff was friendly and accommodating, even late on a weekday. The selection of Fuller's ales and lagers on tap was impressive. There was also ample parking available in the back.
The Volunteer is a pretty country pub. The garden was in gorgeous bloom with hanging baskets and the like. The staff were very welcoming and we felt right at home. I ordered a pint of London Pride and my wife had a diet coke. For lunch we had a burger in a basket and a Ploughman's. The price and the portion sizes were very acceptable for lunchtime. Overall, a very pleasent experience and I would recommend The Volunteer for a visit.
The pub is worth a visit popped in for lunch small menu but it was very nice, the pub clean friendly service was second to none
