Feedback gevenOur first experience was 4 stars, the next was 3, and now they’re down to 2. The same issues persist since our last visit (TEN MONTHS AGO! and they haven’t fixed them; They have a system capable of excepting Apple Pay, yet they don’t have it working I’ve asked about it every time. Bathroom STILL has chipped paint and a nonworking paper towel dispenser. Food: Portion of chicken salad was a bit small the last time and extremely small today. I asked if the strawberry shortcake was a yellow sponge cake because that’s what I like – they said yes but I was served a piece of dry, white cake without enough strawberries (I should have had them take it off the bill . Bathroom has “leftovers” of 4 soaps on the sink looks like they bring them from home... The owner doesn’t even understand how the Open Table reservation system works. I think there is a lot of potential here but it was very disappointing for our group of four this time.
Awful Cheap bread for 1 teaspoon chicken salad. I have pics. And served with store bought veggie straw. Teapot glued together on top It was a friends bday and I was shocked. We were the only peole in there and then 2 others came. We couldnt wait to leave and get something to eat. So much more hate to even have to say this as I hate to hurt peoples feelings but for 30.00 plus tip. Eeeeeh
This visit (party of six wasn’t nearly as nice as my first visit (for four in the spring. Had this been my first time, I probably wouldn't make the 45 minute drive to go again. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that their round tables couldn’t accommodate parties of six so we were seated at a long table and the four people on the ends really couldn’t talk to each other. (If I return, I’ll only do it with a party of four or less because of this. This seating also encourages a lot of side conversations between just two people and I prefer when everyone engages in group discussion. In addition, one of the people on my end had a hard time hearing when they employees stood at the other end of the table announcing things. The dining room was cold! Although they started a space heater while we were there, it was at the opposite end of the table and we didn’t feel it at our end. We mentioned several times how cold we were and we remained cold during the entire meal! The spinach salad was overpriced based on the size and quality/flavor very bland and I wouldn’t order it again. My chicken salad croissant was as delicious as it was on my first visit. I’ve tried two different scones and they are the best that I’ve ever had, although I wish they gave you just a little more of the toppings (clotted cream, lemon curd and jam . Sadly, they were unable to serve the tea as hot as we wanted it. Even after they reheated mine, I sent it back again but it STILL wasn’t hot. This was super disappointing, especially at a tea room! The bathroom paint needs to be touched up and they should either fix or remove the broken paper towel dispenser. The owner and new employee she was training were attentive, but the employee needs to wear less perfume it was very strong and I noticed it every time she was at my area of the table. $45 inc tax 19% tip for two pots of tea, two scones, a small shared salad, and two chicken salad croissants.
I have been to The English Tea Garden several times with my elderly mom. The owner is always very attentive and especially kind to my mom who has some cognitive issues. The food and tea are always consistently good. The experience is just what you would expect from a small local tea room.

I think there is a lot of potential here, but it was very disappointing for our group of four this time.
