The Shadyside Tavern

NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I RECEIVED SUCH HORRIBLE TREATMENT IN A RESTAURANT! We are foster and adoptive parents to 5 medically fragile children under the age of 9 years old. One of the babies is on life support. For once, we had a nurse for the babies and our older children were at a sleepover. A chance to get out and see our friends in the Red Alert Band! At 9:30 pm we pulled up to this adorable little spot in a remote, dark area. Our first time to the Shadyside Tavern. We came across a sign saying, Please Wait to be Seated and we did, until MY FRIEND FROM THE BAND CAME OVER AND TOOK US BY THE HAND AND SAT US AT A TABLE ON THE DANCE FLOOR IN FRONT OF THE BAND. As always, the band was awesome! And then we waited....and waited....and waited. At one point I went and got us some menus. And we waited....and waited some more. After about 15 minutes I LOST MY MIND! I was livid! The waitresses stood around talking to other customers at the bar, stood around talking to each other, and were waiting on people around us. The waitress informed us that we needed to wait to be seated. REALLY???!!! We are friends of the band, I mean GOOD friends, one band member for more than 25 years, and another we socialize with outside of their gigs. How was I supposed to know this restaurant had the cattiest b I would ever encounter at a restaurant? It wasn 't crowded, there was no line, there was a plethora of servers. The restaurant was about 25% full on a Saturday night.......I no longer need wonder why.

I highly recommend this resturant, I never had a bad meal here, atmosphere is great!

Quaint and cute place that you just don't find anymore. Every person that walked through the door it seemed the bartenders knew their names and what they wanted to order. I though that was neat! Also, they give away food, and GOOD food! each day at 5 P.M. if you're at the bar. Cool place, will be back.

This is a great building with a great atmosphere and a lot of potential with seemingly terrible ownership and management. The hours are inconsistent. I come here semi regularly and I have never been here without some sort of incident or issue. The food (if you are able to actually order food) takes forever and is mediocre at best. The bartender and servers are nice but lack good training and leadership from whoever is in charge. Also, while there we inquired as to why they aren 't open on Sundays as we often try to go there for drinks with a large group on Sunday afternoons since there is really nothing else in the area that can accommodate us. We were told that the cook doesn 't like to work on Sundays.
